Liverpool-based distributor Halewood International has submitted plans to build a distillery in North Wales.
If approved, the distillery will be the first to open in North Wales for over a century - and only the third to operate in Wales as a whole.
Halewood already owns the site in question, its former 6,000sq metre Aber distribution depot in Abergwyngregyn, which has been disused since 2013.
Plans submitted to Gwnedd Council include an on-site visitor centre, and the company will also offer training courses in distilling spirits.
Halewood made a series of investments in the spirits sector last year, purchasing a major stake in West Cork Distillers to expand its Irish whiskey portfolio, and acquiring Liverpool Gin.
It also launched a range of craft gins and vodkas under the JJ Whitley brand to target young millenial drinkers.
Halewood also intends to distill craft gin on the premises, alongside whisky.
The two existing whisky distilleries in Wales are Penderyn in the Brecon Beacons, which is operated by the Welsh Whisky Company, and Da Mhile's Glynhynod Farm distillery in Ceredigion.
