Santa Rita named Chile's Winery of the Year

Major Chilean winery Viña Santa Rita has been named as Wines of Chile's 2016 Winery of the Year.

Major Chilean winery Viña Santa Rita has been named as Wines of Chile's 2016 Winery of the Year.

The title was awarded to the winery on the basis of its contribution to the international as well as domestic markets, as a brand ambassador for Chilean wine worldwide.

Wines of Chile is the Chilean wine industry's official trade organisation and represents over 90 wineries. 

The winery was also recognised for its dedication to sustainable management in environmental, social and economic areas of the business.

"Santa Rita seeks to strengthen the country's image. We want Chile to be recognised in different markets through its production of high quality wines with their own identity that consumers will recognise and seek out.

Santa Rita has seen significant growth in the sale of its premium wines over the past year as it seeks to strengthen Chile's reputation as a top wine producing country.

Established in 1880, Santa Rita owns over 2,500 hectares in the Limarí, Casablanca, Leyda, Maipo, Colchagua, Apalta, Maule, Rapel and Curico wine valleys.

Santa Rita is part of the Santa Rita Estates (SRE) portfolio.

"We want to grow our brand and be a benchmark for Chilean wines around the world, but we want that growth to be based on efficiency, sustainability and innovation that is built upon experience and tradition.

"Our commitment to this agenda is beginning to reap rewards, we were delighted to receive the 2016 'Most Innovative Wine Business Award' from the Universidad de Los Andes," Lavados added.
