Gonzalez Byass UK expands range with new Basque addition

Gonzalez Byass UK (GBUK) is expanding its Spanish wine range in the UK with the addition of Txomin Etxaniz, a leading producer of DO Txakoli, to its portfolio.

The lightly sparkling, very dry white is produced in the Basque Country in northern Spain and is usually served as an aperitif.

GBUK managing director Martin Skelton, explained: "Over the last couple of years we have had amazing success with our Beronia Txoko Club, celebrating the cultural heritage of the Basque country and its gastronomic societies.

"Txakoli plays a big part in the gastronomic experience of the area and it is a natural fit for us."

Txakoli is known for its fresh spritzy flavour and will be aimed at Spanish restaurant customers in the UK.

Made in Getaria, the Txueka Etxaniz family winery will be ready to launch the 2016 vintage of their txakoli in the new year via Gonzalez Byass UK.

González Byass is a family winery, founded in 1835, and is known for making Sherries and brandies including as Tío Pepe Fino Sherry.

Their distribution arm in the UK is Gonzalez Byass UK.

The new txakoli will sit alongside wines from Rioja, Rueda, Cava, Jerez, Rias Baixas, Somontano, Cadiz and Castilla la Mancha in the GBUK portfolio.
