Historic Spanish winery Marqués de Riscal will be the focus of a new marketing and sales push to promote its presence in the UK.
A focused campaign has been in the works since Marqués de Riscal joined Essex-based wine agency from Barwell & Jones' portfolio in September 2016.
The new partnership will be unveiled at the upcoming Wines from Spain tasting on March 9 at Tobacco Dock in London, when a selection of new vintages including Riscal's 2012 Barón de Chirel, 2007 Gran Reserva and the 2016 Rueda Verdejo will be featured.
"We are incredibly excited to represent such a prestigious, family owned brand. Marqués de Riscal's philosophy of respect for the past whilst looking ahead to the future, resonates with our own and we look forward to bringing these fantastic wines to a wider audience. Their wines sit perfectly within our portfolio and our strong focus on the Iberian Peninsula," Barwell & Jones director Ashley Coe, said.
Barwell & Jones has also re-structured their sales team to include a strong on-trade focus, in response to taking on the new addition.
This re-focus will allow the company to expand their links with the UK on-trade and independent retailers, the company said.
Barwell & Jones has also invested in a specialist PR agency, Spritz Marketing & PR, to increase the presence of their main brands.
Barwell & Jones is a UK wine agency under the ownership of the Coe family, former owners of Coe Vintners.
Other agencies include Herdade do Esporão, Castillo Perelada, Viña Morandé, Bodegas Fontana and others.
