Bacardi loses Glenmorangie

Published:  23 July, 2008

Bacardi will no longer distribute Glenmorangie Scotch in the UK from 30 June.

Mot Hennessy, whose parent company LVMH bought the malt whisky distiller in a 300 million deal earlier this year, will take over.

The brands concerned are Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky and BNJ (Baillie Nicol Jarvie) in the UK, and Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Greece, and Switzerland. In Portugal, Bacardi Limited will continue to distribute Glenmorangie.

'It was a natural consequence of the acquisition of The Glenmorangie Company,' said Luis Bach, regional director of Bacardi-Martini in northern Europe.
