UK launch for Canella Bellini aperitif at SITT

Published:  15 February, 2016

Prosecco winery Canella is to launch its bottled Bellini aperitif in the UK this month.

It will make its first appearance at the forthcoming SITT tastings in Manchester and London on February 22 and 24.

After the events, export manager Fabio Lunardi will be hosting The Bellini Sunset Tour, a canapé tasting for press and trade, to celebrate the launch.

Bellini Canella comprises two parts Prosecco and one-part fresh white peach juice, with a few drops of wild raspberry.

The fruit for the Bellini is grown on the Canella family farm near Venice.

The aperitif has no added sugar, colouring or preservative and is both low calorie and low alcohol, with an abv of 5%.

It is available to the independent on- and off-trade in both 20cl and 75cl formats, and is imported into the UK by The Bottle Drinks Company in partnership with For the Love of Wine.

Bob Ratcliffe, owner and sales director of The Bottle Drinks Company, said: "Having tasted Canella Bellini at VinItaly in 2015, we thought that the natural ingredients, delicious taste and low alcohol made it a fantastic proposition for an introduction to the UK in the spring and summer.

"We have been delighted with the reaction by the trade we have introduced it to so far, and we are looking forward to showing it to many more independent and wholesale operators at SITT.

"We feel the 75cl will perform well in the independent retail arena whilst the 20cl is an obvious addition to the extremely buoyant single serve Prosecco market in the on-trade.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to build distribution and sales in the independent sector in 2016."

The Canella estate was founded in 1947 by Lorenzo Canella.

It is situated in Conegliano in the Veneto, some twenty miles north of Treviso.

It produces Prosecco and other sparkling wines under the Canella and Cuvée Deroa brands.

Canella Bellini will retail at £10.99 for the 75cl and £3.50 for the 20cl.

It has already won listings at Rodney Densem Wines, Oxford Wine Cafes and Field & Fawcett, among others.
