Real Wine Fair biggest event to date set for April

Published:  17 February, 2016

The Real Wine Fair is shaping up to be the largest fair yet with 160 growers from 15 countries set to show over 700 wines at the Tobacco Dock on 17 - 18 April, 2016.

The fair is both a consumer and trade event which showcases organic, biodynamic and natural wines producers from around the world.

"It is going to be bigger and better than ever.  It is the biggest one yet and truthfully we never intended it to be this size," said Doug Wregg, co-organiser of The Real Wine Fair.

Last year the organisers and the growers decide to take a break and it came back stronger than ever. Wregg said: "Giving it a rest last year I think really made people miss it.  There will be 60 new growers participating this year, which is exciting."

The Facts

When: Sunday 17 April, 2016 and Monday 18 April, 2016

Where: Tobacco Dock, Pennington Street (off Wapping Lane), London E1W 2SF

Website: http://therealwinefair.com/

The rise in popularity of artisan products and consumers looking for products that have provenance has helped drive some of the growth of the show. "Real Wine, like many things and whether you like it or not, has become a brand in itself. Its about artisan products and getting people to be more adventurous in their drinking. It is great way to up-sell the wine and I don't mean by price, but really by getting people interested."

In conjunction with the Real Wine Fair, April will be Real Wine Month, with over 200 participating outlets across the UK helping to promote organic, biodynamic and natural wines. From the local pub to Michelin-starred restaurants and independent merchants, consumers will be encouraged to explore what is on offer. "With over 200 retailers and restaurants participating it is going to be massive. I am really excited to see how month goes outside of London as well," said Wregg.
