Published:  28 August, 2015

Gallo's burst of acquisitions has continued with the purchase of Talbott Vineyards in California's Santa Lucia Highlands appellation.

The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir specialist joins a list of Gallo acquisitions in 2015 which includes Asti in Sonoma, J Vineyards, Cypress Ranch and part of Palisades Vineyard.

Robb Talbott founded Talbott Vineyards in 1982 and built the original winery in Carmel Valley.

He said: "After more than 33 years dedicating my life to the establishment and growth of Talbott Vineyards, I am pleased to transition ownership of our wonderful company to Gallo.

"They represent the same commitment to quality that has been part of our heritage since the beginning.

"My family and I are grateful to all of those that have been part of the journey, and are confident that the future for Talbott Vineyards will be secured by Gallo."

The sale includes the Talbott brand, the winery located 21 miles south of Monterey Bay and the 525-acre Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, which Talbott purchased in 1994.

Roger Nabedian, senior vice president and general manager of Gallo's premium wine division, said: "Talbott Vineyards has an exceptional reputation for producing world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

"We see a great future for Talbott Vineyards as part of our fine wine portfolio."
