Jason Atherton is opening a new wine shop and tapas bar in Marylebone in June.
The Social Wine & Tapas on James Street will comprise the wine shop, complete with tasting table, bar and restaurant, which can serve up to 70 covers. It will operate a small wine bar in the basement and use the Coravin system in the restaurant and bar to offer customers prestigious vintages and fine wines.
The Social Company, which is controlled by Jason Atherton Holdings, said the new venture was "a notable addition" to Atherton's restaurant group and one where "wines and sommeliers will take centre stage".
All serving staff across the shop and restaurant will be trained sommeliers, which the Social Company says will enable it to offer a more personalised and "informed" service.
The restaurant, which will open seven days a week and operate a no reservations policy, will be presided over by executive sommelier Laure Patry, who will focus on stocking small growers and "accessible" wines from around the world which will also be available in the shop.
The Social Wine Shop will also stock the Coravin wine systems in the shop, along with and wine accessories and glassware.
The venture is Atherton's sixth restaurant in London.
