BrewDog co-founder James Watt said of its latest outlet: "Barcelona needs no introduction. Its reputation as a cultural epicentre precedes it. It's vibrant, it's artistic, it's experimental, it's proud, it's unapologetic, it's BrewDog. From Gaudi to Messi, Barcelona is a city of rule-breaking and record setting and this perfectly encapsulates the BrewDog ethos."
The site, which previously housed a bank can seat up to 100 people, will serve 20 beers on tap, some of which will be the craft beers from Barcelona as well as other regions from around Spain alongside of some of BrewDog's signature craft beers.,
Barcelona was selected as a site because the craft beer movement has been gaining traction within Spain and the city itself is known for its vibrant nightlife for tourists and locals alike.
The bar is located at Carrer de Casanova 69, Barcelona and will host several 'meet the brewer events' allowing consumers a chance to meet local craft brewers from around Spain whose beers will be on offer at the bar.
Watt said: "The demand for craft beer in Spain has been growing year on year, and our exports to the country also reflect this trend. We have listened to the fans and set up our first outpost in the Iberian Peninsula."
Last year the brewer expanded at an unbelievable rate opening 12 bars in 2014 alone, both in the UK and abroad. Within the the UK BrewDog opened a bar in Liverpool and have completed a bar in Brighton as well just at the tail end of 2014.
The company also has its eye on opening in several other cities around the world including Bologna, Helsinki, Norway, Berlin and Paris.
