The Sherry Institute of Spain has launched the next phase of its Ten Star Tapas campaign by naming a number of new famous chefs to front the promotional push - as well as a competition to find an up-and-coming duo to stand alongside the established stars. The new faces include Heston Blumenthal of The Fat Duck fame, consumer writer Ruth Watson, Igor Lavado-Garcia from Cigala and Rainer Becker of Zuma. The Institute's new competition, The Sherry Sommelier & Sous Chef Award, will be judged by Blumenthal, Connaught chef Angela Hartnett and sommelier Ronan Sayburn (from Gordon Ramsay), and will see 10 finalists showing off their culinary skills and appropriate matching Sherries at a cook-off at this year's Restaurant Show on 20 September. We are looking for ambitious young chefs and sommeliers or wine waiters rather than established stars,' said a spokesperson for the Institute, and the winner will go forward to an international cook-off in Jerez in January next year. Ferran Adria, of El Bulli fame, will be the judge.' The winners will also receive 1,000 cash and a gastronomic tour of Andalusia. Application forms can be obtained at the relaunched www.tenstartapas.com website. The closing dateis 16 August.
