BRAILLE WINE LABELS

Published:  23 July, 2008

A Birmingham-based online wine merchant is offering visually impaired wine lovers the chance to buy their favourite wines with bottle tags in Braille and large print. Passion Wines currently offers the tags, which contain all the info of a standard wine label, on more than 600 wines and Champagnes, and it has also made its website easier to use for partially sighted customers. The project has been supported by QAC, a group which fights exclusion for those with disabilities. Philip Holt, managing director of Passion Wines, said: We are very proud to be working with these organisations to make wine information more accessible for visually impaired people.'
