Le Clos, retailer of fine wines and spirits, unveiled today it will be selling a Balthazar (12 litres) of Château Margaux 2009 for US$195,000, which is currently on display at Le Clos' flagship store at Dubai International Airport.
This is the first time in Château Margaux's history that is has produced the bottle size; releasing only six bottles and only offering three for sale. The 2009 vintage is considered to be one of the best vintages ever produced.
The purchase of the Balthazar includes a case made of oak, which is raised on steel legs symbolising the barrels in the Château Margaux cellars and is engraved in gold. The price also includes a first-class trip to France to visit the first growth's estate, a private tour of its cellars and vineyards, and a private dinner with the chief winemaker and managing director of Château Margaux, Paul Pontallier.
Pontallier said: "To mark this fantastic vintage, we are delighted to create a unique opportunity by partnering with Le Clos to offer three Balthazars to the world's most international and discerning wine buyers."
Oliver Dixon, head of fine wine at Le Clos, agreed and said: "We are immensely proud to display this limited edition of the Balthazar of Château Margaux 2009 at our flagship store in Dubai Airport's Terminal 3."
Our only question is - how do you get it home?
