Lancashire-based independent retailer EWGA has announced expansion plans to extend its bonded warehouse facility in order to satisfy growing demand.
The warehouse, which will be built to house a 60,000-case storage capacity and have a purpose-built indoor loading depot, will be completed towards the end of this year. Owner and managing director Adrian Moekell said that due to continued growth at 15% per year and additional contract storage, its current space is being squeezed to capacity
EWGA, which has two retail outlets, a wholesale and an agency business, plus a fine wine storage facility, has just secured new on-trade contracts to supply the Whelan Hotel Group, which includes hotels in Jersey, Barbados, Wigan and the DW football/Rugby Stadium.
Moekell said he is currently on the lookout for new acquisitions in order to grow the business further and, in addition, is looking to lease a Spanish vineyard to produce its own wines.
"Most of our growth is coming from national trade and development of business overseas. Eighty per cent of our business is now on-trade with 40% of that based in the north west. We are working hard to acquire new arms to the business in order to take it to the next level as we have reached all we can through organic development," he added.
