Berry Bros unveils whisky range in travel retail exclusive

Published:  31 July, 2013

Berry Bros & Rudd Spirits has unveiled its first series of whiskies exclusively for the international travel retail channel.

Celebrating the spiritual home of The Glenrothes, The Manse Brae range is named after the street on which Rothes House stands and comprises Manse Reserve (rrp £33; 43% abv), Elders' Reserve (rrp £80; 43% abv) and Minister's Reserve (rrp £115; 43% abv).

Manse Reserve has been largely matured in American oak casks with the influence of some sherry oak also evident, Elders' Reserve is matured for a minimum of 18 years to give levels of complexity that can only be achieved by extended maturation and Minister's Reserve is matured for a minimum of 21 years in a bid to develop great character with perfect integration.

As winners of the World's Best Design at the World Whiskies Awards 2013, the brand will also benefit from packaging that aims to enhance the quality of its presentation while retaining the distinctive frame and bottle.

The expressions will be available in travel retail in the UK and European travel retail hubs, as well as Dubai, Taipei (and other airports in Taiwan), Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul.

Ronnie Cox, brands heritage director of Berry Bros & Rudd Spirits, said: "The Manse is a hugely important place; home to the families that own The Glenrothes, it has always been and remains a welcoming place for kindred spirits who appreciate the exceptional quality of our whisky. Interest in The Glenrothes at travel retail is very high and so this range is really a response to consumer demand. We have decided to celebrate our spiritual home and its long history with the Kirk."

Rothes House was formerly the Minister's home, known as the Manse; overlooking the town below, it was a place where the Elders of the Kirk would meet.

The Glenrothes is only selected for bottling when it has reached its zenith of maturity and is at its peak of perfection.
