Domaine du Tariquet releases Marselan rosé

Domaine du Tariquet claims to be the first estate to grow the Marselan grape in Gascony in south west France, where the Grassa family decided to make their Marselan grapes into rosé in order to bring out the best primary fruit aromas.

A little-known grape variety, Marselan was created back in 1961 by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Noir.

Shorter skin contact maceration gives Domaine du Tariquet Marselan Rosé 2012 (rrp £9.90) a paler colour, with light and delicate notes of raspberry and redcurrant.

It has been produced in a limited quantity of 30,000 bottles, makes a good summer drinking wine and comes under screwcap.
