Published:  23 July, 2008

Oenological research recognised

Takatoshi Tominaga of the Faculty of Oenology, Bordeaux II, has won the Amorim Academy's Grand Prix, worth 5,000euro, for his doctoral thesis: "Research on the varietal aromas of wine of Vitis Vinifera L.cv. Sauvignon Blanc and its genesis from odourless grape precursors". The results open a new chapter in oenological research based on a scientific approach. The repercussions of this study, both theoretical and practical, have been considerable. Jean-Pierre Got won the academy's Coup de Coeur prize, worth 3,000euro, for his study: "The Glass of Wine in Dutch painting of the Golden Age". The Amorim Academy, formed by the Amorim group, the world leader in cork, aims to support research in oenology. Its members represent the international wine-producing community. It is presided over by Robert Tinlot, honorary director of the OIV. For more visit the website: www. academie-amorim.com
