Boutinot has taken on the distribution of its first English wine producer Henners, for on-trade and independent merchants, following its recent launch into the UK market.

Boutinot said it chose Henners because it fitted with its ethos of premium quality, attention to detail and small-scale production.

The range consists of a Vintage 2009 (rrp £27), which contains equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, a Vintage Reserve 2009 (rrp £30), which consists of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir; and Rosé Blanc de Noir 2010 (rrp £30), which is 61% Pinot Noir and 29% Pinot Meunier.

Henners' first sparkling wine, its 2009 vintage, was launched earlier this year by owner Larry Warr and winemaker Ben Murray. The 4ha plot in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, was planted in 2007 with a  combination of free-draining sandstone soils, and its south-facing aspect enables consistent and even ripening.

Only fruit from Henners' own vineyard goes into its wines, which are released a minimum of 27 months on lees and at least five months on the cork, post-disgorgement, for the Vintage and Vintage Reserve.

The winery uses a non-interventionist approach to achieve maximum expression from the fruit.
