The Kornicis Group has opened its 10th Jamies Wine Bar in London, ahead of a larger expansion to the chain planned throughout 2013.

The 150-capacity new unit located on Tudor Street, just off Fleet Street, opened last week. Split over two floors, it comprises a formal restaurant for dining and a number of relaxed bar areas including an outside terrace, for al fresco dining and drinking.

Its trademark extensive wine list features over 20 wines by the glass and a traditional home-cooked British menu including signature dishes, daily specials and sharing platters.

During the year to October 2012 its three new wine bars produced a return on capital of 38%. Further acquisitions are planned for 2013, including a major refurbishment planned for the end of January, which will see the London Bridge unit transform into a flagship Jamies Wine Bar.

Several new sites are planned for the City of London as well as the West End, Covent Garden and Soho.

Its reasoning for the uplift is explained by chief executive officer Nick Tamblyn: "We spend time with our management and staff, and pay particular attention to training and service standards over the whole estate. Having a friendly and approachable team is key in the City, and we are proud of the service we provide at Jamies."

Kornicis Group currently run over 20 bars and restaurants, with a geographic focus on London and under three main brands Jamies, Smollensky's and Henry J Bean's.
