Maker's Mark brings tasting initiative to Big Feastival

Published:  29 August, 2012

Maker's Mark is to bring its Kentucky Born and Bred initiative to Jamie Oliver's Big Feastival next month, with bread and Bourbon tastings, and a live cocktail vending machine.

Inspired by the original recipe-development process of the 1950s, the bread tastings will compare and contrast the flavours of wheat and rye breads, and highlight Maker's Mark's "smoother" flavour - derived from its red winter wheat recipe, rather than traditional rye.

Run in association with Blur bassist-turned-cheesemaker Alex James, the Big Feastival takes place on September 1-2, and is held on James' farm in Oxfordshire.

Maker's Mark will also demonstrate its taste profile via cocktails served from its human vending machine - Maker's + The Machine - to showcase its mixable properties.

A bartender hidden inside Maker's + The Machine will serve drinks, including Kentucky Champagne, Maker's & Ginger and Maker's on the Rocks, allowing consumers to experience the flavours of Maker's Mark in cocktails.

Eileen Livingston, Maxxium UK marketing controller for imported whiskeys, said: "The Big Feastival is the perfect location to reach consumers passionate and knowledgeable about food and drink. The Kentucky Born and Bred tastings and Maker's + The Machine will provide festival goers with a memorable experience, while at the same time bringing our handcrafted message to life."
