The East London Wine School is the latest in the growing nationwide network of education wine centres that has been approved to teach WSET courses.

The school, which has been holding tastings since January, will start to offer Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 1 and Level 2 award courses from September.

The Local Wine School network was set up by Chris Powell to offer introductory as well as more advanced wine courses to as wide a group of people as possible. It has built up 11 schools across the country, covering areas as wide afield as Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Yorkshire, Sussex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Lancashire, Milton Keynes and Edinburgh.

Ian Bentley, owner of East London Wine School said: "This gives an opportunity for trade professionals and wine lovers in the City of London to study for WSET qualifications at a convenient and local venue right on their doorstep."

Powell added: "This underlines our commitment to bring wine education to wine lovers and professionals across the country in an approachable and enjoyable way."

It will hold its first Level 1 course at the Chamberlain Hotel in Minories, close to the Tower of London, on September 29.
