THRESHER BUYS LEAPINGSALMON.COM
The Thresher Group is to offer prepared meal kits' in its threshers stores, following the purchase of online gourmet meal business Leapingsalmon, for a reported 2 million. The acquisition of the London-based food company is the latest move in the repositioning of the Group's flagship threshers chain: moving it upmarket to capitalise on the high disposable income of time-poor young professionals. Leapingsalmon was formed in 1999 and currently delivers the kits to homes after telephone or online ordering. This side of the business will continue under the new ownership, although threshers will be the only high-street retailer to carry the kits. The Thresher Group also plans to expand the Leapingsalmon brand into other product lines and formats'.
