Benevolent chairman to cycle from Speyside to London

Published:  21 May, 2012

Simon Thomas, chairman of The Benevolent, is to cycle 574 miles from Speyside to London, along with a team from Pernod Ricard.

The team will set off on June 12 from the Glenlivet Distillery on Speyside and cycle for seven days until they reach the Beefeater Distillery in London, with cyclists hoping to raise a sum of £20,000 for the wine and spirit trade charity.

Thomas, who is also the deputy managing director of Pernod Ricard UK, said: "The Benevolent is the charity that makes a difference to the daily lives of those who have worked in the drinks industry and now need help.

"Today, it helps more than 500 people from across the industry. I would be very appreciative of any support you can give via the link below."

The Benevolent was founded in 1886 and helps provide one-off or regular financial grants, sheltered accommodation, care home facilities, advice, support and friendship.
