Changes to Fine + Rare team

Published:  14 May, 2012

Fine wine brokerage firm Fine + Rare is toasting a strong start to 2012 while making changes to its team.

Head of marketing Simon Davies, who has worked at the business for 10 years, will leave to concentrade on a "more traditional vintner role".

It is in the process of appointing someone to the newly-created role of director of fine wine and has poached Bibendum's Camilla Bowler as fine wine buyer.

Chief executive Graham Sumeray said: "2012 has got off to a strong start - we are level-pegging with last year which itself was a record-breaking year, and our private customer numbers are up 39%. We are especially pleased to see the number of wines traded up by 30% year on year."

Founded in 1994, Fine + Rare is based in London, but also has a Hong Kong office. It employs around 60 staff and lists 47,000 wines.

Founder directors and shareholders, Mark Bedini and Bud Cuchet, remain actively involved in the company.
