Nicole Rolet launches The Extreme Wine Experience 2012

Published:  07 March, 2012

Nicole Rolet, owner of Chene Bleu wines has created The Extreme Wine Experience 2012, a five day intensive wine course which includes hands-on experience in the vineyard.

The course is developed with Clive Barlow MW, the education chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine and a 2012 panel chair for the International Wine Challenge, and will take place 17-21 June at the La Verriere wine estate in Provence, France.

It will be taught by Barlow and New Zealand's Nick Dumergue, a teacher at the International Wine Academy of Rome, and a senior judge with the International Wine Challenge.

The course covers all major grape varieties and wine regions of the world and includes hands-on experience in the vineyard and the winery as well as learning to blend.

The  curriculum, offered in conjunction with the London Wine Academy, is taught in English and includes learning to decipher wine labels, how to stock, manage and accessorize a wine cellar or wine collection and an additional focus on wine and food pairings.

Its aim is to combine the systematic approach and official qualification of the WSET Level 2 Award Certification with the proprietary Chêne Bleu (Art of Food and Wine Pairing) Certification.

The featured chefs are Jean-Claude Altemeyer (Le Gavroche in London, La Cote Saint-Jacques in Paris) and from the Michelin-starred La Mirande Hotel in Avignon, plus Jon Chiri ( formerly of California's San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, and the restaurant Catahoula in Napa).

Extreme Wine creator Nicole Rolet of La Verriere, says: "People should leave the Extreme Wine Experience literally transformed, with a whole new level of appreciation of wine, whether they are a complete beginner or an experienced enthusiast or collector.

"We want this to be a life-changing experience."
