Margaret Rand, Harpers contributor and Bordeaux specialist, has been given the task of editing the Mitchell Beazley Classic Wine Library. Rand, in her role of general editor, will work with Mitchell Beazley's commissioning editor for wine, Hilary Lumsden, to develop new titles and refresh the existing list. Rand, a former editor of Wine Magazine and Wine and Spirit International, said: Everybody working in wine owes an immense debt to this list: it contains key works that have influenced all our thinking, and hugely expanded our knowledge. It's a great honour to be editing it.' Formerly known as the Faber Wine Series, the list was taken over by Mitchell Beazley in August last year. It comprises over 20 monographs on key wine-producing countries and regions, including the classics: Bordeaux, by David Peppercorn MW, Burgundy, by Anthony Hanson MW and The Wines of Britain & Ireland, by Stephen Skelton. New titles that have joined the Library since the Mitchell Beazley takeover include: The Wines of Hungary, by Alex Liddell, The Wines & Vineyards of Portugal, by Richard Mayson, Australia's Liquid Gold, by Nicholas Faith and The Wines of Germany, by Stephen Brook.
