APP Wine Law launches importer's protection package

Published:  02 March, 2012

In a bid to help UK importers gain maximum security from their producer relationships, UK law firm, APP Wine Law, has launched a Wine Importer Contracts Package.

The launch comes on the back of importer clients approaching APP Wine Law when something has gone wrong between themselves and a producer.

The package comprises of a suite of tailor-made contract templates, from a long form 'distribution agreement' through to a simple concise email, which will enable a UK importer to identify and put in place the key protections needed in the case of each producer it represents.

Solicitor and owner of APP Law, Andrew Park, says: "Their exposure is almost always exacerbated by the absence of contractual protections.

"An importer's losses in this situation can be enormous, and it's often just a case of damage limitation.

"The picture would be so different, in virtually every case, if the importer had made certain that essential protections were put in place at the outset - it's a strategic imperative."

Park adds: "I hope that by launching this affordable, accessible offering we will be helping importers to maximise their chances of putting a satisfactory contract in place with every single producer they represent."
