Robin McMillan appointed Wine Society CEO

Published:  17 January, 2012

The Wine Society has appointed chief operator, Berry Bros. & Rudd, Robin McMillan as its chief executive, commencing May 2012.

McMillan has been chief operating officer and member of the BB&R board since 2006, after joining the company in 2004.

He performed a variety of roles covering retail, sales, operations, customer service, international business development, HR and logistics, which The Wine Society says gives him the ideal experience to take up the role of chief executive.

Sarah Evans, chairman of The Society said: "Robin will bring a fresh approach and new ideas. We are impressed by his energy, his understanding and appreciation of the mutual model, his attention to detail and focus on member service."

She adds in a tough economic environment and fierce competition, there is much to do to ensure that The Wine Society remains at the forefront of the industry and continues to supply members with high quality, good value wines.

McMillan, says: "It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have worked for BB&R and I now consider myself equally fortunate to be joining another great organisation such as The Wine Society.

"The mutual model demands an overriding focus on members and service rather than profits and growth and is almost unique in the Wine Trade making it a very attractive prospect with, I believe, great further potential."
