McGuigan Wines breaks into UK top 10

Published:  20 December, 2011

McGuigan Wines has broken into the top 10 wine brands in the UK for the first time, according to the latest Nielsen figures, making it 8th largest by value.

The Australian Vintage owned brand claims the latest figures from AC Nielsen (AC Nielsen, 29.10.11) also shows it is the 9th largest by volume in the UK market.

The range has increased its market share by 32% in value and 27% in volume in the last 12 months and represents just over 7% of the total Australian category in the UK taking it into the top five Australian brands in the UK off-trade.

Paul Schaafsma, general manager, Australian Vintage, UK and Europe, said: "This news is fantastic and we will certainly be celebrating at the up-coming Australia Day tastings in January.

"The tastings present a fabulous opportunity for us to showcase the quality of our wines to the trade and press in the UK,"

He added: "We have had some great wins during 2011, not only at the competitions but also in the UK off-trade which shows that we are committed to this market and will continue to invest."

Australian Vintage will be showing wines from its Tempus Two and Nepenthe ranges at the Australia Day tasting, January 2012.
