Pernod Ricard has announced a £80 million investment in the expansion of its Jameson Irish distillery, due to continued growth.

Pernod Ricard has announced a £80 million investment in the expansion of its Jameson Irish distiller, due to continued growth.

The brand which is playing a leading role in the export-led recovery of the Irish economy, will bring with it sixty new manufacturing and technical jobs; thirty at the Midleton distillery itself, and a further thirty at the company's bottling plant at Fox & Geese in Dublin.

The expansion which is due to begin in 2012 aims to be completed within fifteen months.

Patrick Venning, head of marketing, Pernod Ricard UK, said: "Jameson is in its twenty-third consecutive year of growth, and this expansion of its key site in Midleton will continue to push the brand from strength-to-strength.

"As well as supporting the growth of Jameson's global exports, the development of the distillery will also hugely benefit the local economy.

"The plans include a focus on environmental sustainability, and as part of the expansion, we are committed to reducing 33% of energy and 20% of water consumer, per litre of alcohol distilled."
