However, a number of health bodies pulled out of signing the deal at the eleventh hour, calling the deal toothless and accusing the government of being in the pockets of the big business. These included the Royal College of Physicians, the British Liver Trust, the British Association for the Study of the Liver, the Institute of Alcohol Studies, the British Medical Association and Alcohol Concern.
