NEW ITALIAN WINE SHOW

Published:  23 July, 2008

By James Aufenast

A show which purports to showcase the smaller winemakers that Vinitaly neglects is to run every year, staged alternately between Rome and Turin. High-profile names such as Castello di Ama and Mascarello, which normally shun wine exhibitions, will be taking part in the first Salone del Vino show, in Turin, between 15-18 November. The exhibition is being run by motor show organisers Lingotto Fiere. We want to reproduce with wine shows what the group has done for the car market,' said a spokesperson. And we can do it quickly. We've been running motor exhibitions for 20 years.' The exhibition will be 100% trade and wine-only. In the future, however, olive oil may be included. 600 exhibitors have signed up for the 30,000m2 space allocated for the fair.
