Brixton Spirits and Brixton Distillery merge

Published:  20 August, 2026

South London’s Brixton Spirits and Brixton Distillery have announced the two businesses have merged to form a single entity. The combined business is set to be known as Brixton Spirits.

Products from the two producers will exist on a single portfolio which will include the following: Brixton Gin, Brixton Vodka, Brixton Rum, Brixton Aged Rum, Market Row Botanical Rum and Market Row ‘The Dram’.

Both distilling ventures launched in 2020. The original Brixton Spirits was established by retail entrepreneur Andrew Murray-Watson and Calandra Smith. Brixton was founded by two former Chivas Brothers executives – former marketing director Pat Venning and former chairman and CEO Laurent Lacassagne.

Lacassagne sadly passed away in December 2024 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Mel Stack, Lacassagne’s partner, reflected: “I am delighted that Laurent’s vision for Brixton Distillery and his long legacy in the wine and spirits industry will live on with our long-term partner and new owner, Brixton Spirits.”

Murray-Watson detailed that “our goal now is to grow the business sustainably, in what remains a challenging market for premium spirits – particularly in the on-trade”.

“Thankfully we are now seeing increasing signs that the industry is responding to customer demand for products from independent producers, rather than the same big brands behind the bar," he said.

The Brixton Spirits founder believes that “the merger of the two businesses gives us a fantastic product line up and two great brands, backed by strong trademark protection”.

The combined enterprise has a London focus at present. Around 80% of volume sales are within the on-trade, with Brixton Spirits offering its products in five litre bag-in-box format too.

Wholesale partners for Brixton Spirits are Venus and Pig’s Ear, though the range is also available directly from the company.
