Wines of South Africa (WoSA) is set to run its first South African Wine Festival in the UK.
The week-long festival will start on 1 September 2019 with WineFest South Africa, a consumer-focused wine event at The Yard in Shoreditch, London.
Other activities across the week include a restaurant ‘safari’, which will see buyers and sommeliers touring London in a Land Rover Series 1, a media-focused winemakers’ braai, which is a South African-style barbecue, and a tasting event for independent wine merchants billed as South Africa’s Excellent Adventure.
The festival coincides with the New Wave South Africa importer tasting, which will take place in London on 3 September.
Jo Wehring, UK market manager for WoSA, said: “The South African Wine Festival offers the UK trade a fantastic opportunity to come together and promote South Africa’s wines, widely regarded as the most exciting and dynamic wine producing nation in the world.
“We anticipate many of our winemakers coming to the UK market during the week, bringing with them the friendly, sunny character of South Africa along with their wonderful wines.”
A wide range of promotional support is available, including posters, window decals, web banners and bunting, which WoSA hopes will encourage producers, importers, retailers and restaurants to participate.
