The Conseil Interprofessionnel Du Vin De Bordeaux (CIVB) is to open its pop-up Bar Bordeaux in Bristol at the end of May – the first to be held outside London.
The bar, which runs from 27 May to 8 June in the city centre at Cabot Circus, will offer customers a choice of 20 different wines, eight of which will be available across the fortnight with six different guest wines each week.
The wines available will range from dry whites, rosés and crémants to modern, fruit-forward reds. All will be selected from those featured in the CIVB’s ‘Everyday Bordeaux’ promotion.
Events at Bar Bordeaux include five 30-minute expert-hosted speed-tastings each day, offering customers the chance to taste five wines: a dry white, a rosé, a crémant and two reds. Each session will cost £10.
There will also be a number of joint promotions between Bar Bordeaux and local business across the residency.
“With its historical links to Bordeaux and established wine trade, Bristol is the perfect next stop for Bar Bordeaux,” says Fiona Juby, UK market consultant for the CIVB.
“The bar will give consumers in the south west a fantastic opportunity to taste Bordeaux’s modern and fruity wines, demonstrating how affordable and versatile they are –perfect for every occasion, on their own or with food.”
This will be the third year that the CIVB has run the Bar Bordeaux pop-up concept, but the first time it has opened outside the capital.
