Co-op ramps up rosé range

Published:  10 May, 2019

The Co-op has “massively boosted” its rosé portfolio, adding 10 new lines as part of a spring range refresh.

Simon Cairns, Co-op category trading manager for beers, wines and spirits, said it was focused on introducing “more Provence-style wines, a trend that continues to prove popular with our customers, as well as exclusives and introducing well-established brands.”

"Recent additions include a “genuine world first for Co-op when we were proud to be the first retailer on the planet to range Studio by Miraval. A real coup for us at Co-op and could only happen when the supplier believes in what we are doing here.”

He also said a premium white port, Sandeman White Port priced at £10, had been added to the Co-ops fortified range in 450 stores and the Co-op had listed the first own-label low alcohol wines, with a Garnacha Rosé, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Cabernet-Tempranillo, all produced by Felix Solis Avantis with an abv of 0.5% and priced at £3.

“Our wine range continues to win customers and we’re seeing growth ahead of the market, up 4.2%, while increasing our market share (+0.3%pts),” he added. ““Through the acquisition of Nisa and our supply agreement with CSG, we are now supplying 4,000 extra independent stores, as well our recent launch of the Co-op franchise proposition.”
