Caorunn gin has launched an international cocktail competition, the 10 Year Switch, to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
It said the competition offers bartenders across the UK and the US a “once in a lifetime opportunity to build their personal profile on an international platform by showcasing their cocktail creativity to the world".
Entrants should share a personally curated cocktail recipe at www.caorunn10years.com that “celebrates the Scottish heritage of Caorunn gin and embraces the creative influence of American Culture” before 3 May, 2019.
Submissions will be judged on four things: Fusion of Scottish heritage and American influence, accentuating the character of Caorunn gin, well-balanced and crafted taste profile and finally, distinctiveness of serve.
They will be judged by Caorunn’s panel, which includes Ryan Chetiyawardana, who Caorunn says is “one of the world’s most influential bartenders”, Paloma Alos, managing director of Difford’s Guide, one of the world’s largest and most visited drinks guides, and Caorunn gin master, Simon Buley.
Successful entrants will attend regional finals in either London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester or Leeds where they will prepare and present their cocktails. A winner will be chosen from each city and the five will fly to New York City on an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the international final on 31 July, 2019.
At the final, two international winners will be selected from each country. Both will get the opportunity to switch countries, working in “one of the coolest bars” in NYC and London, while the winning entry from the UK will see their 10 Year Switch cocktail named as Caorunn’s signature serve in the UK.
