Meet the Dragons at Think France

Published:  08 March, 2019

A Dragons’ Den-style session will decide on the best opportunities for French Wines at Harpers forthcoming at Think France event on 26 March at Glazier’s Hall in London.

Kicking off a full day of workshops, seminars and some superb tasting, the Dragon’s Den Debate will see ‘Pitchers’ pitching ideas to a panel of high-level wine trade ‘Dragons’, in an attempt to win those steely-eyed panellists over to an idea for boosting recognition and sales of French wines.

Forget slow death by PowerPoint presentation. Each Pitcher will have just five minutes to make an impassioned, quick-fire pitch from the heart for their idea - be it pushing France to the younger generation, focusing on organic and bio, selling up Cremant, eno-tourism or whatever it may be.

Among the Dragons will be trade decision-makers such as Bibendum's buying director Andrew Shaw, Caprice Holdings putchasing director Paul Jenkins and managing director of Hennings Wines, Matthew Hennings. Pichers them be the likes of Cambridge Wine Merchants' managing director Hal Wilson, Dinner by Heston director of wine Stefan Neumann MS and Raul Diaz, wine educator and consulatnt.

Then, with Pitchers’ pitches pitched, the Dragons, helped by the audience, will make their judgements known as to which Pitchers are poached and which of their ideas has won through.

The Dragon’s Den Debate promises to be a popular and entertaining start to a fantastic day, combining elements of theatre, drama and interaction, delivering some serious insights into the French wine category, while also being a lot of fun for Pitchers, Dragon and audience alike.

Elsewhere, Harpers inaugural Think France event will offer a fully interactive experience of tasting, masterclasses, networking and debates, looking at the modern and exciting face of France, while giving you fresh ideas of what you can do with your own French range.
