New additions revealed for Harpers' Think France event

Published:  26 February, 2019

Harpers has released more details about its new event dedicated to French wines - Think France.

Richard Hemming MW will deliver a masterclass on how French terroir influences different grape varieties, comparing the same variety grown on different soils, as well as different varieties on the same soils.

And Vin de Cahors will look at the current state of play in the world of Malbec, new styles of Cahors and how to spot a Cahors in a blind tasting. It said Cahors, the original home of the Malbec grape variety, has been producing wine for two thousand years and “the Black Wine of Cahors, as it used to be known, was prized by kings, popes and tsars: Peter the Great claimed it did wonders for his delicate stomach.”

Think France will also celebrate several anniversaries, including the 60th anniversary of the Menetou-Salon Blanc AOC and Sancerre red and rose AOC, and the 80th anniversary of the Sancerre Blanc appellation and Pouilly Fumé.

The new annual trade day, which makes its debut 26 March 2019 at Glaziers Hall, 9 Montague Close, London Bridge, SE1 9DD, will also feature presentations, panel debates, workshops, masterclasses and tasting areas, while the Think France Awards will also recognise the best when it comes to ranging and selling French wine.

With the even taking place just three days before the planned date for Brexit, there are also plans for a Brexit talk looking at the implications from both a British and French perspective, with the deputy French agricultural counsellor confirmed as a speaker.

Guest places are limited: to register your interest to attend, please contact lee.sharkey@agilemedia.co.uk

Think France is the first country event to join the popular Agile Media - publisher of Harpers, ‘Think …’ portfolio, which includes Think Gin, Think Rum and Think Whisky.
