Berkmann Wine Cellars is now the exclusive UK agent and distributor of Victorian producers Yarra Yering and Domaine Tournon.
The new additions add to Berkmann’s existing range of Australian producers, which include Katnook Estate, Langmeil, Woodlands, Lethbridge, Between Five Bells, Unico Zelo, Harvest, Chapel Hill and Deakin Estate.
“2019 sees Berkmann Wine Cellars double its number of producers from Victoria, taking on distribution of two wineries contrasting in style yet comparable in vision,” said Alex Hunt MW, purchasing director at Berkmann Wine Cellars.
“To represent either of these great wineries would be a privilege; to be able to present both simultaneously and champion the exceptional wines of Victoria in this way is a real thrill. We look forward to introducing these icons to our customers at our Portfolio Tastings on February 12th and 13th, and thereafter to many years of successful partnership.”
Sacha Timaeus, export manager for Yarra Yering, said it was “delighted to be working with such a respected and as high a calibre importer as Berkmann. Yarra Yering has a relatively long history in the UK market and we are very pleased to be collaborating with Berkmann Wine Cellars to reach a new generation of wine drinkers as Australia continues to be rediscovered and recognised for its boutique, premium and quality-driven offering. We are honoured to join Berkmann’s portfolio of like-minded and distinguished wineries and I know we will be a great fit together in market.”
Cyrille Harmel, export director for Northern Europe at M. Chapoutier, said the UK market has “historically been Australia’s most important export market for wine and we are excited to partner with a distributor that is well placed to provide national coverage in both the on and off premise channels for the wines of Domaine Tournon."
Yarra Yering was established in 1969 and is made up of 28 hectares of vines located at the foot of the Warramate Hills.
The Chapoutier family has long been considered a leading light of the Rhône Valley, but in 1997 Michel Chapoutier expanded into the Australian region of Victoria.
