Château Castera expands distribution via Exel partnership
Château Castera has expanded its UK distribution via a new partnership with independent Scottish online retailer Exel Wines.
As part of the partnership, Perth-based Exel has taken on the Château’s grand vin, Château Castera 2015 Médoc (rrp: £17.50).
The distribution deal presented Exel with a “great opportunity”, said business development manager Mark Crawford.
“We had been looking, and somewhat struggling, to extend our quality Bordeaux offering at this price point, he said, adding the “approachable style” of Castera was what Exel increasingly found to be what its customers were seeking in a modern Bordeaux at this level.
“Not only were we impressed with the quality and character of the 2015, but the price bracket works really well for us and we love working directly with passionate producers that make wines with provenance but which also appeal to modern wine-drinkers. Castera ticks all these boxes.”
The listing of the wine, which is a mainly Merlot blend (65%), follows the tipple’s success in recent international competitions.
