Pull the Cork launches crowdfunding campaign

Published:  21 November, 2018

Pull the Cork, the online sustainable wine retailer launched at the beginning of this year, has embarked on a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to raise £24,000.

The campaign, launched with Indiegogo, would bolster the start-up’s “already strong growth” and help take the business to “the next level and a wider audience with additional marketing spend", said co-founder James Nathan.

“So far we have not launched any major marketing campaigns to drive people to our site yet we have seen week-on-week sales growth since the start of trading in January 2018. Investment in a targeted marketing campaign will raise our profile as pioneers in the sustainable wine world,” he said.

By pledging support, investors would also be supporting small, independent producers and the growing trend of sustainable wine in the UK market, he added.

“We have many exciting plans for 2019 and beyond and want everyone to know about our incredibly diverse and dynamic wine selection and for what we have set up and are continuing to push, crowdfunding is the most logical and practical way to raise the money.”

Investors will receive one of seven tiers of perks, including 10% or 15% discount for a year, a mixed case of wine, a decanter and glasses, wine tasting for eight people with Rob Seddon of BBC's Second Chance Summer, and will be entered into a competition to win a weekend for two at Moritz’s Res Fortes Vineyard in the South of France.

Subscription packages available from Pull the Cork comprises four monthly options - The natural Selection – three bottles (£60); The Everyday Occasion Reds – six bottles (£85); Organic Mixed Case – 12 bottles (£160) and Certified organic Mixed Case – three bottles (£50).

To be as competitively priced as possible, bottles are sent directly from the supplier, which Pull the Cork said also helped to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
