Giesen Group, owner of leading Marlborough brands Giesen Wines and Ara Wines has announced plans to consolidate distribution of both portfolios across the UK on- and off-trade via one importer.
CEO of Bibendum PLB Michael Saunders, confirmed the wider distribution agreement with the Giesen Group, calling it “one of the most progressive and dynamic producers in New Zealand”.
From September 3, PLB will represent Giesen Estate and Giesen Organic with multiple retailers.
Bibendum, which serves the on-trade and Walker & Wodehouse (independent merchants) will be adding the following Giesen brands: Vineyard Selection, Small Batch and Giesen 30 Staves to the existing Ara portfolio they carry.
The move will complement the current distribution agreement with Ara Wines, which has been in effect for three years, to consolidate their routes to market with one partner.
Giesen co-founder and owner, Theo Giesen, said: “Giesen Group have been exporting to the UK since 1988 where my brothers and I used to look after the distribution ourselves. We are excited about a fresh start with Bibendum PLB under the recently re-established leadership of Michael Saunders.
“We have invested extensively in the development of our brand, top quality vineyards and a state of the art winery to ensure that we are perfectly positioned for continued growth and the future needs of our customers.”
H2Vin will continue to be responsible for distributing the Giesen fine wine collection, which includes grapes sourced from the respected Clayvin vineyard.
Giesen Group owns 13 vineyards across Marlborough’s Wairau Valley and has longstanding relationships with 50 grape growers, under the guidance of winemaker, Nikolai St George.
