Barney Davis joins Bancroft as buying director

Bancroft Wines has announced the appointment of Barney Davis as its new buying director, beginning 4 June, when he will oversee all aspects of buying and shipping at the company.

Davis joins from Lanchester Wines, where he oversaw a restructuring of that company’s bulk buying operations.

During 20 years in the trade his previous roles have delivered experience in diverse sectors, including Somerfield and Co-op, Company of Wine People, Robert Oatley Vineyards and Kingsland Drinks.

“We are very pleased to welcome Barney into our business,” said Bancroft’s CEO Jon Worsley, in a statement released on 25 May.

“He has a proven track record of exceptional work with leading producers from around the world and operational excellence that can be implemented into our business as we work to achieve our ambitious growth plans.”

Davis was quoted as saying that he is “thrilled and excited” to be coming aboard at “such a pivotal time for the business”.
