New Zealand Winegrowers has launched an online campaign ahead of International Sauvignon Blanc day tomorrow (4th May).
The digital campaign, which has already reached more than 50 million impressions under the hashtags #nzwine and #sauvblanc, was on track to become the biggest social media campaign NZ Winegrowers had ever been involved in, said global marketing director Chris Yorke.
It was fitting that the push, which invites consumers to go online and “share their sauvignon Blanc experiences” was around Sauvignon Blanc day – New Zealand’s most exported wine varietal, he added.
In addition to the digital avtivity, NZ Winegrowers have planned a series of festivities to celebrate the day in key markets across the UK, Australia, Asia, Canada and the US.
In the UK, celebrations will include an exclusive ‘Sky High Dining’ experience in the New Zealand Penthouse, with a Sauvignon Blanc supper club for consumers including a mini wine masterclass alongside a four course Antipodean inspired menu - prepared by chef duo Kiwi and Roo, designed to showcase the diverse styles of Sauvignon Blanc with different matches for each course.
The push follows NZ Winegrowers launching a competition in March offering trade from the UK and Ireland the chance to win a trip to the international Sauvignon Blanc Celebration in Marlborough from 28 to 30 January 2019.
The series of activity is being run against a backdrop of New Zealand exports achieving a record high of NZ$1.675 billion. Sauvignon Blanc accounting for 12.8% of wine sales in the UK, with New Zealand commanding 44.3% of category sales.
