A new restaurant and bar called Fare Bar + Canteen, is set to open in London’s Clerkenwell, offering a 250-strong wine list and 30+ wines, beers and cocktail on tap.
The venue, from wine bar owner Michael Sager and Marcis Dzelzainis, is looking for an investor to provide £500,000 for a 30% equity and will then look to open up further rounds of funding for existing investors.
The operator has already secured a 4,500 sq ft site in London’s Old Street on a 15-year lease.
According to an investor document there are plans to open two more sites in high footfall areas over a five-year period.
The restaurant and bar will offer an all-day eating and drinking experience focusing on flexitarianism, with 75% of the menu being plant based.
The venue will have two floors, which will each offer a distinctive drinks offer. The downstairs will have a full restaurant with seating for 50, a bar and lounge that seats 20 and a private dining area for up to 70.
It will offer a 250-strong wine list including a small batch of natural wine straight from the producer. It also plans a “collaborative cocktail list” with a rolling guest series of world leading bartenders from the UK and overseas.
The upstairs restaurant and bar will offer Taptails - cocktails on tap as well as wine on draft offer. There will be a pizza bar and coffee shop, for eat in and take away that will seat 30, bar and courtyard.
The venue will also offer takeaway wine, spirits and beer.
Sager, who runs the famous London wine bar Sager + Wilde and has been UK Sommelier of the Year is to launch the concept with Dzelzainis, who has opened iconic cocktail bars, including Satan’s Whiskers, 69 Colebrooke Row, Dandelyan, and Sager + Wilde.
