First UK tasting for CEVI

Published:  09 April, 2018

The European Confederation of Independent Wine Growers (CEVI) has announced it will hold its first UK tasting in May this year.

The tasting, which will take place 16 May in Lindley Hall in London, will feature more than 60 producers from seven of the industry body’s member countries - France, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Luxembourg and Montenegro, covering a wide spread of regions across the countries.

From France there will be wines from Champagne, Bordeaux, Cognac, Provence, Burgundy, Alsace and Cahors.

Looking to Italy, wines from Piemonte, Calabria, Lombardia, Veneto, Friuli, Trentino, Basilicata, Alto Adige, Toscana, Marche and Campania will be poured alongside wines from South Sakar, East Rhodopes, Danube Plain, Struma Valley and Thracian Lowlands in Bulgaria.

In addition, there will be wines from Tokaji and Szeksárd in Hungary and Styria and Brda in Slovenia, as well as wines from Luxembourg and Montenegro.

More than 400 “exciting and innovative” wines would be available to try, many of which have not been shown in the UK before, said the CEVI, which was formed in 2002.

The organisation now represents the interests of 12,000 independent winegrowers in Europe.
