Hakkasan Group launches alcohol-free drinks menu

Published:  29 March, 2018

Hakkasan Group has launched a new alcohol-free drinks menu called the Orchard List.

The menu features 29 drinks, which have been designed to demonstrate the “complexity, quality, character and body” usually associated with premium spirits and craft cocktails.

The list is the culmination of two years of worldwide research and development that had been inspired by ancient recipes containing ingredients from Asian cultures, said Hakkasan.

Christine Parkinson, group head of wine, said she had worked closely with head of bar Eder Neto alongside chef, drinks researcher and developer, James Morgan, to source and develop products from around the world for the new menu.

“The Orchard List project has been an opportunity to breakdown the notion that premium is only tied to alcoholic drinks. This should be extended to other drink options for guests to enjoy while dining.”

It features nine drink categories with varying flavour profiles including tea-based drinks such as honey jun - a kombucha tea cultured with honey.

Parkinson said Mai-Shin, a rice and Japanese tea infusion, was a new drinks category developed by the group, which said it had been inspired by the brewing process of sake.

Two varieties of Mai-Shin have been created; Sukkiri, which is floral with notes of pear and apple blossom, and Mattari, which is creamier in flavour with great depth and body.

The list also includes salted juices, which are popular in South-East Asia, as well as drinking vinegars that are diluted with sparkling water. There are also collections of fruit blends and tree waters such as Ogam Bottled and craft sodas.

The Orchard List launched in London this month and there are plans to roll out the menu across Hakkasan’s international restaurants later this year.
