Yapp Brothers has created a new head of sales position for which it has appointed Simon Stuart.
Stuart, who has taken on the role with immediate effect, spent the past five years with Domaine Direct where he was appointed as sales director in January 2016.
Other previous roles include stints with Alliance Wine, Marc Fine Wines and Majestic.
In his new role, Stuart has taken on the responsibility of growing on and off-trade turnover of Yapp Brothers through his own contacts and experience, as well as managing and developing the trade sales team.
The appointment followed a “record year” for the business in 2017, said CEO Tom Ashworth.
“Last year we picked up the IWC Wine List of the Year award alongside regional specialist awards and we are delighted that Simon has joined us to lead an already strong trade sales team,” he said.
Previously the sales executives reported directly to MD, Jason Yapp.
A leading importer of French regional wines, Yapp Brothers was named Specialist Wine Merchant of the Year for the Loire and Specialist Wine Merchant of the Year for Languedoc-Roussillon at the International Wine Challenge Awards in July 2017, as well as being awarded Wine List of the Year.
Yapp’s agencies include famous domaines such as Jean-Louis Chave, Georges Vernay, Patrick Jasmin, Auguste Clape, Alain Graillot, Le Vieux Donjon, Trévallon and Jasper Hill.
