Wine wholesaler and importer H2Vin has entered into a strategic partnership with Spanish wine specialist and de Vinos owner Bruno Murciano.
The partnership, which takes place with immediate effect, includes H2Vin fully incorporating Murciano’s de Vinos Spanish wine collection into its core portfolio, with H2Vin now officially the new exclusive UK distributor.
In addition, the partnership sees award winning sommelier and wine producer Murciano joining H2Vin’s management team to aid sales and client relations, as well as developing H2Vin’s Spanish agencies.
H2Vin, which has been importing and distributing Bruno Murciano’s own wines from his home region of Utiel-Requena, Valencia, since 2012, said the addition of the de Vinos collection, including producers such as Peres Barquero, Luna Beberide, Carmelo Rodero, Trico and David Sampedro Gil, formed part of “ambitious plans” for its Spanish portfolio this year.
The partnership was a “perfect fit” as both parties shared the same philosophy and the belief that Spain delivers some of the best quality and value for money wines in the world, and deserved greater representation in the UK, said H2Vin founders Christian Honorez and Matt Wilkin.
“We strongly believe that combined, the portfolios share common important and differential characteristics: they are born from quality fruit of indigenous grape varieties; they are great representatives of their terroir, elaborated using exceptional winemaking techniques from sustainable viticulture,” he said.
A total of 25 new estates would be joining the portfolio from this month, creating “textbook additions” to H2Vin’s expanding Spanish portfolio, he added.
“We have ambitious plans for 2018 to reflect this whilst developing our portfolio and client base even further as a highly professional multi-talented team,” said Wilkin.
Murciano said: “This partnership in the high-end on-premise and independent channels will assist H2Vin to meet the objective in showing the UK the diversity and depth of the combined range as Spanish wine listings continually increase throughout restaurants, hotels and independent wine merchants across the UK."
